This journal began in December, 1999 as part of a website for MacPherson's General Store, located at Kenogami, Ontario, Canada. (48 06' N, 80 14' W)
The intent has always been to provide a daily update of natural news and local weather for the store's many seasonal costumers. There are nearly 600 cottage properties within a 15 minute drive of the store. Over the years this journal has become a source of information for a much wider readership, from across the world. It remains the oldest continuous blog originating from Northeastern Ontario.
I make no claims of being an expert on anything. An expert is someone who knows some of the worst mistakes that can be made in his subject area and skillfully manages to avoid them. On occasion I have demonstrated a lack of such skills. While observations are made and reported with as little opinion as possible, opinion does prevail stemming from my background and the idiosyncratic environment in which I make both my home and my livelihood.
Feedback is encouraged. If you would like to share thoughts, stories or pictures which relate to the subject area within this almanac, the dedicated e-mail address is kenogamialmanac@gmailcom . I have always made a point of respecting the anonymity of contributors, unless otherwise instructed. Be advised that I have a traditionalist point of view concerning the sharing of information and it has always been my tenet that the principals of copyright are not applicable to the world wide web. Feel free to copy any images I may include within the script of this journal.
Finally, thanks for dropping by The Kenogami Almanac. I've long since stopped trying to analyze why so many readers do. I'll just keep doing what I do. *** mac
